Kitchen Paint colours, need to go with or match lights?
So we bought a house over a year ago, with these hanging light fixtures in the kitchen that are a deep yellow, almost an amber tinge to them. The kitchen is yellow right now with cream doors on the cupboards. The paint is old and nicked is spots and needs to be redone. The hanging lights can't be replaced, too much work, even with a husband who is an electrician, and bot enough room in the budget. I'm looking for some ideas of colours that will go with these lights. I'm leaving the ceiling it looks fine, but need a colour for the walls and cupboard doors. I'm taking any suggestions!

The Best thing you can do is go on a site called : http://www.rjtpainting.com/ and use their color visualizer. It’s a great tool and it allows you to either upload a photo of your own house/room or pick one the their rooms to paint. You simply drag and drop the colors wherever you want to paint and can also save your choices. In the bedroom option you can even change the color of the bedding !!
Good Luck!!!!

The paint visualizer as mentioned above is a fantastic tool to use.
If you think about the colors of autumn, you will find many shades of color that will look good with your light fixture shades. Look at sage greens, rusty oranges and burnt reds, even orange toned terra cotta colors would work well for the walls. In a kitchen you can get away with a deep saturated color as there really is not much wall space in a kitchen. The cabinets and the appliances take up most of the wall space, so there is actually little wall space.
Personally, I like to see the walls and the cabinets contrast. So, I would pick a light cream color with just a tiny bit of a goldish cream undertone. Picture the color of Hellman's mayonnaise with a touch of gold. I think this will go well with the light fixtures and will certainly compliment any other colors I mentioned above.
Those lights just remind me of a warm autumn day with lots of colors in the foliage landscape.

I think a very pale gold would look beautiful or like a buttercream (it would brighten up the room, too)! Pick up the tones in your oak cabinet and that would go beautifully with your brown couch. You could put accents of red/sage green as well. .
