Why so much hate on pro-lifers today?

I've noticed within the last couple of days there has been an increase of questions insulting, demeaning, or attacking those who oppose abortion. Most of it's not even real questions but rants. I know the whole debate on the birth control coverage has stirred many feelings but why do so many pro-choicers have started attacking all pro-lifers?

I'm all for birth control and I think this is something many pro-lifers can work with pro-choice people. The important thing here is to prevent unwanted pregnancies so we can reduce the potential of women aborting.

I know we won't agree on the abortion issue ever but shouldn't we try to find some common ground?

Update:

Chosen1, I've never bombed an abortion clinic nor would I ever want to.

Update 2:

Just want to let people know I'm against abortion. I'm not a christian, I'm atheist actually and I'm not a conservative. I think if people stop bickering and stopped focusing on party lines, we might get stuff done.

Update 3:

whatever, I do notice the vitriol on both sides. That is why I said we both should work together. People get too hung up and demonize the other side just like you did now.

There's a lot of hate on both sides, and I think it often comes at the cost of compromise. The fact is that there are pro-life groups working with pro-choice groups out there. The main example that I can think of is a rather large group across several states focusing on improving education and the lives of the poor. The fact is that most cases of abortion can be prevented without using a legal block, but rather an effective method of bringing people out of poverty and teaching them how to engage in safe sex. Both sides agree on that.

However, the vitriol doesn't come from that point of view. It comes from pro-choice and pro-life people who view the other side as being anti-humanitarian. I'll readily admit that I'm pro-choice, yet I understand the line of the pro-life argument, even if I thoroughly disagree with most methods for instituting such a perspective. If more people were just willing to understand the opposite side, it might turn out a whole lot less angry and a whole lot more constructive.

Oh poor pitiful you, never once do you notice the vitriol from the pro-life side, but if one pro-choice person says something offensive, you might just break into tears.

Here's the reality: Your observations are biased, suspect, and distorted by your own prejudicies.

Why don't you conduct an empirical survey instead of just your gut feelings? If you want to know why there's no common ground, it's because of passive-aggressive (and not so passive!) manipulation like yours.

Get over it, you're not a victim of abuse, nobody made you do wrong, you chose it.

edit: No cynical, you did. You started it, and you are guilty of such behavior, and continuing it by attacking me instead of taking responsibility for your own actions.

Me? I'll say flat out I'm condemning you, because I consider you hypocritical and dishonest, a passive-aggressive abuser. You do us wrong, with your complaints about being abused. I happen to oppose that.

Take responsibility for your actions instead of begging for pity. We can tell you're not honest, we can tell you're trying to blame us, you're just using classic tools of manipulation.

The only people who support you are the ones who agree with you, it creates dissension, not unity, much like say the Southern states on the cusp of Civil War.

BTW, Senator Orrin Hatch just said "Abortion is 95 percent of what Planned Parenthood does" which is an absolute lie on his part, so you know what? Tell the Pro-lifers to stop lying.

Abortion is seen as a citadel in the US since Roe v. Wade (similar to the situation in Canada since Morgentaler, which I'm more familiar with). Touching the issue sparks a lot of controversy and condemnation.

Also, atheists are very active on this site in general, and the strong pro-life approach (i.e. - personhood begins at conception) relies on religious dogma to make sense. Hence, aggressive criticism of pro-lifers.

Yeah I don't really get it, either. We were debating it in one of my classes, and there were only about 4 people in favor of Pro-Life morals. This one girl made this ridiculous comment "well, it is kind of awkward when a woman who was raped is asked about the baby....so..." I was literally in awe. She clearly didn't know the FACTS. Rape acounts for less than one percent of abortions. But a higher of percentage of abortions is because of social reasons. I don't understand. The baby didn't rape you? So let it live. You don't have to keep it, but you definitely do not have to murder it.

Adoption should be the only other option.

The only time abortion should be allowed/necessary is when the mother's life is at risk for some reason.

What do you expect when dealing with god delusionists. They lie to you by trying to tell you humans have souls and have a life after. They are the evil ones.

Because they're extremely stupid. "Abortion is so wrong and so is birth control even though the baby isn't conscious for 18 weeks." Then "YEAH GET IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN GET EM KILL EM. KILL THOSE 12 YEAR OLD SUICIDE BOMBERS WHO DIDNT EVEN CHOOSE OR WANT TO BE FIGHTING A WAR AGAINST AMERICANS. KILL ALL THE MUSLIMS. ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS." You get the picture?

    B/c they're not pro-life. They're pro-fetus, anti-American or dictator wannabe's.

They don't think things through...like what happens tothe child (assuming the fetus develops full-term) and what effect it has on those directly involved.
