2012 tax return "processing delays"?
Okay. I filed my tax return on Feb 4th, it was accpeted that day. And Yesterday 02/15/2012 i called the irs number & it said they recieved it & its being processed i should recieve it by Feb 28th. Well i checked back today & now its saying due to "processing delays" my expected refund should be here on Feb 21st. What does processing delays mean & is that towards everyones? & im not complaining Im just confused, i thought if its a delay i would get it later, but im getting it sooner? has anyone else have this problem???

seems to be happening all over, I do taxes for several people and they have not received the refund yet either. Gotta love the irs lol, maybe we can ask them for a late fee penalty?

I had the same issue... I did my taxes on 2/1/12 and it was recieved the same day but it was after the 11am cutoff so I was expected to recieve my refund on 2/15/12 according to the refund chart. On the "where's my refund" tool it said accepted and being processed at first, and then a couple days later it said there where delays and I would get it on 2/14/12. Well it is now 2/16/12 and there has been no receipt of my refund and now when I use the "where's my refund" tool it says that they have recieved my taxes and they are being processed, and that I should recieve my refund in under six weeks from the acceptance date... I am sooooooo confused.

filed and accepted 2/8 and nothing yet. :( You can order your ACCOUNT transcripts anytime. There is no indication by ordering your ACCOUNT transcripts that your refund is ready to be sent. It's the RETURN transcripts that tell it!!! If you can order your RETURN transcript, then you might be good for expecting your refund in just a few short days. Never heard anything about bankruptsy holding up refunds, but without knowing more about the bankruptsy situation, can't help ya there... probably couldn't help you anyway for that matter....... LOL, but I do know I'm right about the RETURN transcipt part....... per irs employee two days ago. i do know, though that if more information is needed, or if there is an offset, you will be notified either by phone or writing or both. :) hope this helps a little bit.

I filed mine electronically at H&R Block on 2/2/12 and it was accepted by the IRS the same day. My expected refund date was 2/15/12, but after many calls to my bank card and checking the WMR site at IRS.gov, 50X I decided by 2am it wasn't coming. Also, every time I checked my refund status on WMR it told me that they were unable to provide me with any info. Neither of these occurrences have ever happened to me....I have always gotten my refund on the expected date and the WMR site has always collaborated with the info given me by H&R Block. Soooooo, here's what I found out today.....the very nice lady (thank you!) at H&R Block customer service informed me that this year the IRS installed some anti-fraud software to detect erroneous tax returns and EVERYBODY that e-filed was red flagged (FUN!!), and because the number of taxpayers who e-filed this year went up by over 13%, they obviously needed time to remedy this, thus, a BIG delay. Apparently everyone's being told that they cannot be provided with any info on their return at this time or that WMR is down for maintenance. Lotsa glitches with that site this year. So, in conclusion, you can most likely expect your return a week later than initially indicated. Though mine was due to me 2/15/12, it will probably be deposited somewhere in the 2/22/12 neighborhood. Irritating, but a bit of a relief too...I suspect I wasn't the only one wondering if OMG maybe some mistake was made on my part because it wasn't there on the 15th and because of what the WMR site was telling me! So folks its a game of hurry up and wait! BTW this also applies to those who filed in the traditional fashion and are expecting a paper check. Hopes this helps y'all a lil bit!

Mine said the same thing when I called, so I spoke with a rep and he told that I would receive my return on the original date listed. In your case would be Feb 28th.

It's election season. I think they are just gonna give us all our money towards the end of the first quarter and make it look like business is doing well by showing a spike in economic activity. This is B.S.
