woke up with sore lower back?

i can even see the muscle is tense so it's not kidney problems. how can i relax it and prevent this from happening in the future? thanks!

Update:

I did do some heavy lifting at work yesterday, but nothing out of the ordinary. might have just been a muscle spasm. and this is the first time this has happened to this degree.

You probably pulled a muscle. Use ice to the lower back, 10 minutes on 20 minutes off, three to four separate times. Take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil, ibuprofen or Aleve and make sure you eat while you take that for it can upset your stomach.

If you take the anti-inflammatory for a day or two, you will notice the back ache will go away. If you think back, you probably lifted something heavy the day previous or twisted your body to do something and that caused muscle spasm.

Well, if this is a rare happening, you could probably blame it on your mattress or just ignore it. If it happens on a regular basis, you should take notice of your daily habits. We all do things we are not aware of (unconsciously). For instance, I lost a tooth recently and the dentist told me to stop grinding my teeth. Well I wasn't aware I was doing that. Now I catch myself grinding away several times during the day. I have to make a conscious effort to monitor myself and hopefully rid myself of this bad habit.

put a pillow under that foot to keep the toes off the mattress....that helps me when my foot is bothering me. good luck. happy new year!
