A shy Sagittarius man?

Hey there, I'm a cancer girl, and I recently met a shy Sagittarius man.

According to what I read about his personality analysis, he's like:

+ Straightforward and seems honest.

+ Love joking around.

+ Intelligent.

+ Looks toward the future.

etc...

But he's also not:

- Very outgoing as usual Sagi.

He spends lots of time at home (has this computer business although he's still uni student.). He claimed to me once that he's shy with girls when it comes face-to-face. We go to different universities so I often contact him on Whatsapp. Indeed, we met only once (I was a costumer) and he seemed to like me,

What is actually confusing me that how is this relationship is going, I count him as a friend but idk what he is up to (smt more? Cuz he hasn't much social relationships with female friends, not more than relatives female friends :/).

I thought he might be player, but he is too striaght to manipulate a speech.

I'm trying to understand his thinking way so I can deal with him better. Does he look at me as a friend only, blocked options/ no future chances. Or "sm1 might develope a slow relationship with during time". And how come he is shy?!
