Witch planets are visible to the naked eye this month?
I live in the US Southern California zip 92630. Right after Sun set I see two bright planets. I know one of them is Venus, but the other one I'm not sure if it,s Saturn or Jupiter. Later on closer to 1am i can see The Red planet (Mars) just about overhead. So who knows what's what?
I know in December they are all going to be in alignment, but will all 8 of them be on the same side of the Sun, or what? What planet is going to be where?

You're going to get a really big disappointment. It's called reality.

The one which is closer to the horizon after sunset is Venus which is really bright. Jupiter is farther from the horizon and rather overhead after sunset. The red planet is surely Mars which can actually be seen at around 10 pm or a little earlier in the east just above the horizon...

The planet Venus is the 0.33 brightest merchandise interior the sky at around value -4. This makes it seen to the bare eye somewhat somewhat. basically situation is that the blue sky historic past reduces the evaluation and so makes Venus much less evident than it in any different case could be. you may the two stick to it from the break of day twilight sky, in any different case for the time of normal daytime use binoculars to help preliminary id as quickly as the tough component of sky is prevalent. Warnings right here of path approximately by probability scanning too on the edge of the sunlight. Jupiter is in basic terms particularly fainter than Venus at around value -2 and so this too could be seen to the bare eye for the time of day time offering the sky is freed from haze. the comparable techniques for locating right here as suggested approximately Venus. Mars is a threat for the time of its valuable oppositions whilst it could rival Jupiter in terms of brightness. it somewhat is somewhat plenty the exception than the rule of thumb however so under ordinary circumstances, Venus and Jupiter are somewhat the only planets which could be incredibly consumer-friendly to locate with the bare eye for the time of the day.

Venus and Jupiter after sunset. Mars rises around midnight ,or earlier , followed by Saturn. Depending on WHERE Mercury is in relation to the Sun, it may be visible before dawn. IF you know where and when to look for Mercury, and are patient enough to take the time to look for Mercury, it's quite obvious, when there is enough contrast between Mercury and the background sky. I've seen Mercury many times, usually after sunset when Mercury is around maximum eastern elongation. I'm not a morning person, so I only occasionally catch Mercury around maximum western elongation, and it's its usually when I haven't gone to bed until around dawn, which usually happens around the summer solstice when we are daylight saving time, so dawn is an hour later, not in February or March, before the United States goes onto DST.
