Who thinks churches should pay taxes?

Churches are wealthy, the Catholic Church being one of the wealthiest organizations in the world. Why shouldn't they pay taxes? Same with all the churches, especially the little store front churches that set up in the neighborhood. They are just a scam to cheat on money.

<<Who thinks churches should pay taxes?>>

It doesn't matter what people think. Churches are still tax-exempt.

    <<Churches are wealthy,>>

    Some are. Some are not.

You going to tax the poor Churches?

    <<the Catholic Church <snip> in the world.>>

The annual budget of Vatican City is roughly the same size as the annual budget of the city of Chicago and, more often than not, ends in the Red - NOT indicative of a "wealthiest" organization.

    <<Why shouldn't they pay taxes?>>

    Why should they?

    <<Same with all <snip> cheat on money.>>

"Scam and cheat on money" - like taxing Churches!

Hello pot, I must be kettle.

They are taxed when they sell things for profit. But not on donations. The Church donates a bunch of money and Churches like the Catholic church even have 1000s of major hospitals around the world that treat the poor and children for FREE. So why tax charitable donations.

Actuallly the Catholic Church operates under a deficit most years because of charitable work of the Church. The Churhc feeds, clothes, houses, educates and gives medical care to more people on the planet than any other institution. Who would you target to suffer if the Church paid taxes. The Church is a very efficient charitable organization. God bless!

I am not Catholic however they ran and fully funded most of the orphanages and the soup kitchens during the depression. I doubt they would be so generous worldwide if they were a scam.

Actually the scam was demanding a vow of celibacy. That was done so landowners who would became priests would have no heirs to leave their property and money to, other than the church.
