Its abit expensive but Dominions 3 is the champ as far as I am concerned. It lasts for YEARS of play. Check out the comments and the demos. Check out the conversations in the Dom3 forums of people who are still playing it years after its release and still finding new things.

"Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits." Its no longer precisely modern-day in fact i think of its a 2002 launch even though it particularly is an impressive game. in case you very own a PS2 I fantastically reccomend this game. it particularly is a turn-based strategies-set type RPG with an strategies-blowing storyline.
