When someone in the US Air Force is decorated for valour...?

What medal are they given? In the UK, people are given the Victoria Cross for valour. What do American Airmen get?

    Hello "Ty"

It depends on the degree of the valor.

Basically, you are referring to such decorations as:

    Medal of Honor

    Distingushed Service Cross

    Navy Cross

    Air Force Cross

    Silver Star

    Defense Superior Service Medal

    Legion of Merit

    Distinguished Flying Cross

    "Life Saving Medals"

    Commendation Medals

    Achievement Medals

It depends upon what the nominating person recommends that award to be given to a deserving person. Of coures, there are criteria for awards and the actions must meet that level of conditions.

    Best wishes,

    Larry Smith

    Senior Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret.)

    First Sergeant
