What's a good audio editing software thats free?

I have some music from a live performance but its hard to hear it over the audience. Is there a program out there that's free that will boost the audio so I can hear the singer?

    I think a good one is Audacity.

    I personally don't edit music but I am an avid Pirate Bay user and if you find the name of a good program you can more than likely get it for free off of there.
