Dear Jim Unknown. You are appropriately named. Politicians and all federal employees (including the President, Congress, Supreme Court, etc) have been paying into social security since 1984. However, like most employees of large employers (and even many smaller employers/companies) they also PAY INTO a separate retirement program so that when they retire they will draw benefits from Social Security and any other other retirement program they have been making contributions to.

Politicians should not receive a salary at all and they should get the same health insurance options that the rest of the country gets.

Yes we all agree but the politicians are smart and make their own rules! Nobody can seem to do anything about it?
