I'm planning on downloading and installing win xp sp3.Need Help!!!?
I found a location at the mircrosoft website where I can download win xp sp3 either as an update or an ISO. I plan on downloading the ISO so I can boot from a disc and install. My questions are :
1)During installation will I be asked for a key code? If so will it be added in the download?
2)Once I get the ISO file what are the things I need to make a bootable disc? I have a couple of softwares like Power ISO but I need to know how to make a bootable setup disc with the downloaded ISO file.

Window SP 3 is a service pack. It is available FREE from Microsoft Windows updates. It SHOULD be installed. It automatically updates your computer without needing a boot disk to install it.
You do NOT need anything to use it other than a legal copy of Windows XP with SP2.
I would not go the ISO route. You can download it and burn it to a disk and it will install like any program, NO special ISO boot file needed.
Go to start>All Programs> and above the separator line find Windows Update and click on it.
Windows Explorer will open, When the warning bar comes up allow Active X to be installed. by clicking on it. Follow on screen instructions and let it scan (recommended settings) it will find all updates and the service pack that needs to be installed. Let it download and install. Do this several times as each update seems to trigger additional updates. When you have no more updates to download you have the latest updates for XP.
The Custom button allows you to install some needed updates but these are not critical according to Microsoft its just a good idea to install those you need/want.
