How do you get the "shadowy" look with eye-shadow?

When you say "shadowy" I'm guessing you mean smokey.. I'm going for it anyway.

Bascially, generally you use three colours. You can use two.. but it looks better (in my opinion) if you use three. You cover your whole eyelid in the lightest shade. So for you, this would either be a very pale green or a beige. You then go a little darker, not too dark. You fill in half of you eyelid. From the middle to the outer edge of your eye. You will start to curve the eyeshadow around your eye and winging it outwards. The last color should be the darkest. Usually this is either black or for you, this would be a dark shade of green. You fill this in at the outer edge of your eye. Curve it round your eyelid a little bit and wing it out.

You see how three colors in that picture have been blended in together.
