If you're going to sell it the buyer will probably want a functioning copy of Windows on it.

I recommend going into the Control Panel, go into User Accounts, then create a new account. Name the account anything you want (I like "Owner") but make it an administrator.

Then log off and log back in as that new user.

Then go into Control Panel, then User Accounts and delete your account.

Tell it not to save the files.

That should delete all of your files and history and personal stuff, but leave Windows working for the next person.

Place your install disk in the DVD and boot from there. Do a install but stop after you have re-format the hard drive. The extra start up files are stored on your ram memory, when you power down those files are gone. When format is done, Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Alt+Del to stop install. If none else press and hold the power on button.

You can either do it while you're installing the Operating System on to the harddrive or just from windows expolorer.

To do it it right off through windows explorer, right click the harddrive and click format.

if you want to do it and install a new Operating System check out the link!

Usually you hold down F11 when you start the computer. Or, if you have the original factory install disks, insert them and re install windows.
