    To each his own.

I miss the way games were back in the old days but that is probably because back then gaming was a fresh concept for me. Today I am more cynical and critical of games. I still enjoy games and appreciate what they are but its far rarer these days that a game fills me with awe and wonder.

I guess that's what us older gamers mean when we say we prefer the games of waaaay back when. It's not the games themselves, but the way we experienced them and how they made us feel.

Younger gamers these days will be experiencing this on the consoles of today and in 10 to 20 years time they'll be saying the exact same thing (provided they're still gaming.)

I prefer to live in the now, so I will always like games that are current a recent but games of the past will always have a special place in my memories.

hah, ask any seasoned gamer and they'll probably say old. Certainly PC games....OLD, no question. The PC game died around 2001, the last great games were half life, deus ex, system shock 2 etc.

These days consoles dominate the industry, and on the PC the only games people play are massively multiplayer (very addictive online games) such as World of Warcraft. Im avoiding that game specifically cos I don't want to throw my life away lol...it can do that to some.

Good current console games are the COD series, Battlefield series, Skyrim, Street fighter 4, Zelda: Skyward Sword etc.

If you wanna play old games buy an old console or download them on a PC. You can play old console games on a PC through an Emulator, its easy.

I like the old games over the new ones because most of them all the same, first person war shooter games. Which gets very boring, very fast. Also most of the new game DO NOT have local multiplayer, so you can't have your friends come over and spend the night and play video games all night. I love the old games more because well I grew up with them and they make you use your brain and figure out the patten to complete the level. Also most of them have multiplayer, and don't get boring.

ok old games have definitely got to be better, same with old school gamers. they are the foundations of the games we have today.

just imagine if no one created zelda, mario, mortal kombat or COD what would the gaming world be like?

its a bit of a silly question just compare the 3ds now to how the game boy colour was back in 1998 or 1999.

I prefer the classics myself. They are a true test of gaming ability. Anybody with enough time can beat most any game put out today thanks to checkpoints and infinite lives/continues. It takes some skill to get through a game like Ninja Gaiden 1 on NES. Hell, that game has infinite continues (rare for NES) and is still incredibly tough.

depends I have a wii--xbox 360--ps3. and an old atari sys. the games I used to play and was really good at yrs ago are harder than hell now. but the Graphics are a lot better in todays machines. We as humans are like the machiines, we evolve with the technology.

    Hope that makes sense.

I prefer old games , look for example how the resident evil games used to be pure survival horror on the ps1 , now they're mixing it with action wich is not good IMO

Cult classics had great stories;Modern titles have better gameplay, graphics etc.

So I'd say this competition is a tie.

Well, if it is a sequel then the second sequel is usually the best, except Final Fantasy VII which is said to be the best sequel.

Actually it's all about taste, and I don't know how to elaborate both of them.

As long as it's fun to me, I'd still tap that.
