Can anyone verify or discredit a rumor.....?

About the US Government investigating citizens that are storing food? I can't find any web sources to conferm or deny. I get that story about the LSD claiming the FBI wanted a list of customers but the rumor I'm looking for is that the feds are investigating people that are storing more than 7 days of food. Is this a Mitt Romney game? I honestly have no clue. Thanks for any info.

Update:

I meant by a Romney Game, is this to attempt to discredit him due to his Beliefs. I've heard this from other LDS, (got it right that time) up here. I've ended up associating with them due to some friendships I have.

The idea doesn't make sense, but right now we have a president that has the NDAA and a dubious agenda, i'm trying to figure what this guys game is and what info is and isn't accurate.

Most rural and suburban families shop weekly (or even bi-weekly). So about 70% of Americans store 7 days worth of food. Could the FBI investigate 70% of the population? (Along with investigating bank robberies, terrorism, murders, etc.)

Not to mention the problem of "how much is 7 days worth of food?" For me it might be a bulk bag of trail mix. For my neighbor it might be 20 steaks, a bag of potatoes, and 30 cans of peas. What is the FBI supposed to do? Check the total caloric value of everyone's trip to the grocer? Are stops at McDonald's factored in? Or factored out because you can't really store it? Also, since food is stored in body fat, are the morbidly obese automatically storing 7 days worth?

Common sense proves this is false.

Source(s): - NOTE: I wasn't necessarily pointing out that it wouldn't make sense for the government to do it. (They do lots of things that make no sense.) I was just pointing out that - even if they had a great reason and motivation to do it - they simply couldn't. It would be like tasking the FBI to investigate people to ensure they only flush their toilets 4 times a day. Who knows, maybe that could conserve our delpleteing aquifers...a good reason....but they just couldn't do it.

Well... first things first. It's LDS, not LSD. :) The former is a church, the latter is an illegal street drug.

Where ever this rumor came from, it is false. As a member of the LDS church, I can tell you that:

    1) Romney wouldn't be investigating anyone storing food. and

    2) No one has investigated me, nor anyone I know who does store food. (And we store a lot more than 7 days worth.)

    I doubt that is true!
