If I make a powerpoint on OpenOffice & save as .ppt, can I open it on Microsoft PP 1999/2003?

I have to do a powerpoint presentation on Friday for English class. I have OpenOffice and I'm going to save it as the ".ppt" format for Microsoft 1997/2000. My teacher's computer in class is Microsoft Powerpoint 1999/2003. Would I be able to open my powerpoint on her computer?

You export as PowerPoint 97 thorugh 2003 format, which can open in all versions of PowerPoint from 2003 and later. If you save in PDF, then PowerPoint won't be able to open the file.

I believe you can do this if you save the files as "PDF" files in both Microsoft and Open Office. That seems to stick in my mind as the best working option.
