When I try to run a program as an administrator I get a black screen. Any help?
This has been going on for a while. Every single time I want to run a program the administrator window pops up. When I click continue the entire screen goes black and stays that way until I hit the power button and restart the whole thing. I've tried pressing a few buttons here and there and clicking in the same spot, but nothing works. I have an HP Pavilion with Windows Vista Home Premium, and I can't afford to upgrade at the moment (I got the laptop and hardware for free anyways after I fixed it). I really need help and this issue has been keeping me from doing my work. Please help!

Your User Account may be the cause of this. Go to the Control Panel, Users, and create a new account and see if the problem is still there when you log in under the new account. If the problem disappears, then the User Account is the problem, otherwise, there is something wrong with your Vista installation.
Get to the elevated command prompt going to Accessories and right clicking on Command Prompt and click on Run as Administrator.
Enter sfc /scannow at the command prompt. This will check the system files for completeness and integrity (missing or corrupted).
