Why am I unable to change my profile name or avatar?

I haven't used my account for about 8 months but I always signed in now and again so that yahoo wouldn't deactivate it but when I logged in today I have been unable to change my avatar or profile name. When I type in the name I want to use and select my avatar it says that my profile has been successfully updated but it still shows a ? as my screen name and my display pic fails to change as well. Also when I click to view my pulse it says page not found?

Any advice would be helpful, Thanks!

    Click "My Activity" at top of page

    Select "Edit My Preferences"

    Click "Update photo or avatar"

    Follow instructions to select your photo/avatar

    Click "Submit" on bottom of original page when done

    Make sure your Pulse profile is not hidden. <=====================

    - Log out. Make sure that your browser has been updated, as well as your browser cookies and cache cleared.

    - Go to http://profile.yahoo.com/ , log in, and activate the Yahoo! Profile service. See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/profile/basics/ for details on how to set it up.

    - After your Y!Profile is successfully set up, which could take moments or days, come back to Yahoo! Answers and log in. Attempt to change your Y!Avatar and screen name via the Yahoo! Answers profile (i.e. click My Activity tab at the top and click Edit My Preferences). Make sure to save your changes. You may have to wait days for it show up properly.

    If none of the above works, then you can attempt to contact the Yahoo! Answers team at y_answrs_team@yahoo.com to see if anything can be done. There's no guarantee that they'll answer though.

    because your profile is hidden,and you have to show it here,on privacy settings http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/

    When you show your profile you will be able to put an avatar.

    Source(s): Currently there are some problems and on this score the loading is not very fast and to see the new photo you have to wait at least 1 day,as I have to do.

    no idea.my friend says it is that you need a special programm! but the name should change though.i guess just click "save" to save the new name.the pix is an other story!i can not even up load mine(from my files).with my old hard drive i could not change avatars
