Make up a week long menu with a grocery list. Have recipes that include items you have on your list for most of the week; in other wards, if one of the recipes is Vegetable soup, have another night of stir fry or pot roast. So you can use up the green peppers, potatoes, onions, and celery with no waste or spoilage. I use coupons from online sources and real use them! Also find out when your grocery store stocks up for the week (usually Monday or Tuesday) you'll find the most sales. Be sure and calculate savings-sometimes you think it would be smarter in buying the bigger size item rather than 2 of the little guys. Not always, they try to fool you. Also go for the off brands if they are cheaper-sometimes the named brands will have good price cuts. When I cook , I cook for 6-I really feed 3 but I can freeze soup easily or soup base to be used later. I'm not sure if Aldi's is everywhere but they are very reasonable, you can save a ton there. Just make sure you calculate your gas spent in getting there!

The best tip I can offer would be to plan ahead. Check your grocery flyers for sales, especially on meat, and prepare a list ahead of time. Buy meats that will give you leftover options. Guarantee you'll save!
E.g. If pork roast were on sale I'd serve roast dinner and plan for pulled pork sandwiches w the leftovered portion of roast. If beef roast were on sale I'd serve pot roast dinner and plan for beef stew w leftovers. When I make spaghetti, rather than having spaghetti again w the leftover sauce, I make a casserole layering fresh pasta (shells or w.e)topped with sauce and cheese, repeating layers until dish is stuffed full. Also, pork tenderloin are cheap and delicious, just rub w Worcestershire, season and bake, leftovers make great sandwiches, same goes for meatloaf! Roasted chicken meat is great for chicken pot pie, chicken ceaser salad, chicken wraps; or use the whole carcass and make chicken soup.
Just plan your meals for the week before going to the grocery store and that way you'll be organized and you'll save time and money. Also coupons are a great way to save a few bucks that can go towards dinner meat. Hope this helped!

Nothing is cheap any more.
Buy what you can at a Dollar Store. Pasta, dried beans (any legume), rice, spices, eggs, bread, whatever they have that you need. Everything's so darn expensive nowadays compared to just a year or two ago. It's amazing how prices have escalated so quickly.
Only buy meat when it's on sale. Same with vegs and fruits. They're REAL expensive now!
I don't know what you like to eat, so it's difficult to say what'd be a decent meal for you.
You could make a beer can chicken.
Grilled lemon herbed chicken
Baked potatoes, roasted veg's.
Pasta with garlic olive oil, olives, red chili pepper flakes and parmesan.
Lentil and veg soup
Bean soup
Bean burritos
Chili with tortillas
Cheese Crisps
Tacos with beans
Northern bean soup with tomatoes, onion and some left over ham or sausage in it.
Fritatta
Grilled cheese sandwich with an apple or other piece of fruit
Fried rice and Egg Drop Soup
Meatballs in a rosemary gravy served over rice.
Herbed chops on the grill, grilled corn on the cob, potatoes cooked on the grill.
Roasted Root veg's, Roasted fish of your choice
Tuna salad atop of greens
Ziti bake
Penne with zucchini
Fettuccini with Orange and Mint sauce
Albacore and pasta salad with peas (not canned)
When London Broil is on sale, buy it. I recently bought a 2 pack on sale. Froze one. The other I cut in half and cooked half of it as a roast with root veg's. Leftovers were made into bbq beef. The other half I ground up for a meatloaf. I also made some meatballs and froze them for later use in marinara sauce or the rosemary onion gravy.
Guess it depends what's on sale.
If you can, have a small garden this year. It helps.
In a few months the Farmer's Market will be open and I'll be frequenting that place. Sometimes it's cheaper than the local grocer. Just have to check on the prices and go for the best deal.

Always have a grocery list before you go shopping.
Breakfast:
Oatmeal or dry cereal with milk.
Lunch:
Peanut butter sandwich...very healthy.
Cheese sandwich.
Packaged lunch meats for sandwiches.
Dinner:
Frozen dinners. Buy the top brands. This is cheaper than buying all the items to cook from scratch.

Costco and other warehouse stores make you pay for a membership and make you buy really big amounts of things.
If you are only shopping for 2-4 people, you might not need 52 rolls of toilet paper.
Stock up on staples like pasta, rice and beans, they are cheaper when purchased in bulk. Don't buy processed foods, name brands when you can buy store brands.
If you don't cook yourself, learn to cook some basic meals.

Go to places that specialise in the type of grocery that you are wanting to buy instead of buying your food from a supermarket. So go to retail butchers and fruit and vegetable places. They sell their produce cheaper because they can buy it in bulk. Buy the cheapest items at the supermarket because often quality doesn't change much with price
