Can someone help me find a children's book?
My sister recalls reading a story book as a child, and she would love to get her hands on a copy of it now. She cannot remember the exact name of the book, but she thinks it may have had the lines "Penelope was five and small and seldom misbehaved at all" in it. Does this ring a bell for anyone? We have tried Google, the local library and bookstores in town for an answer, but nobody seems to know anything. The story was likely published sometime in the late 50's/early 60's. Can someone here help?

The Pink Hat by Velma Illsley (published 1956)
"An object lesson is taught with natural charm and captivating references to every girl's dreams... Penelope, a careless youngster with three pet rabbits, hankers after a lovely pink hat in a store window- to wear on the carrousel, being smiled at in and while having chocolate sodas. She saves to buy it and wears it for one lovely minute before carelessness creeps in and- the rabbits eat the pink hat up. Months later and wiser, Penelope buys a parasol which she keeps hung carefully on the wall."

"She began her career as a fashion artist in Philadelphia, Miami, and New York, but decided to begin illustrating children's books, and was convinced by Horace Gregory, the poet, to rewrite the story that became The Pink Hat (1956). "

Can you provide anymore details on this? Any other characters or plot points? Britishish or Americanish? If your sister is 45, it could have been published up to mid 70's, correct? I'm looking, but I need some more details. If I can't answer here (if it's closed), I will on the Loganberry site if I find it. ANY MORE DETAILS WILL HELP! :)
