  • Traveling to Copenhagen in January?

I will be flying from San Francisco to Copenhagen, Denmark in January and will be visiting there for approximately 2-3 days. What is the weather typically like at this time? Is rain common, or is there a good likelihood of snow? What type of outerware is recommended? I do have a wool coat, but I was wondering if a different type of coat/jacket might be better.

  • Can someone help me find a children's book?

My sister recalls reading a story book as a child, and she would love to get her hands on a copy of it now. She cannot remember the exact name of the book, but she thinks it may have had the lines "Penelope was five and small and seldom misbehaved at all" in it. Does this ring a bell for anyone? We have tried Google, the local library and bookstores in town for an answer, but nobody seems to know anything. The story was likely published sometime in the late 50's/early 60's. Can someone here help?

  • Should I expect snow in Dublin by 1st week of November?

I will be traveling from the United States to Dublin in 2 weeks. I have read that in many parts of Ireland, snow is expected as early as Wednesday of this coming week. How likely is it that I will see snow in Dublin? Or, is the snow expected to only be in the northern parts of the country?

  • Cartoon from the 70's or late 60's?

Does anyone remember an old cartoon with a bunch of teens who travel in a spaceship with their alien "dog"? The dog was supposed to be half dog and half sheep? What was this show called?

  • Has anyone worked as a Calendar Coordinator?

What does the job entail? Is legal experience necessary? I have worked in office settings, but not specifically in the legal field. I did generate legal documents for use in real estate transactions previously at a Title Company. Would this experience be transferable/helpful?

  • Following Up on Interview Again?

I had a job interview 2 weeks ago. At the time of the interview, the manager said that there were more people to interview and I should hear back from her in a week. Last Wednesday I followed up with her, and she said that she would be interviewing more people this week. No hiring decision has been made yet. Is this a bad sign? Should I follow up again the end of this week or Monday?

  • Is it possible for a boss to reconsider an applicant?

If a company has advised that a person is not going to be hired, can they reconsider if an applicant sends a carefully thought out thank you letter in which any concerns that arose in the interview are answered? **Basically, can an employer say that you are not hired, but then reconsider and hire you afterall?

  • SFO -United Airlines Check-In Location?

I will be flying in 3 weeks from SFO to Dublin, Ireland on United Airlines with a layover in Chicago. At SFO, United has two check in desks (one in the domestic terminal and a 2nd in the International terminal). Since my final destination is International, do I check in at the International terminal? Or, since my first stop is still in the U.S., do I check in at the Domestic terminal?

  • Dublin to Bray by public transit?

I will be flying from America (Chicago, Illinois) to Dublin in April. Upon arrival, I would like to go to Bray. I found "Aircoach" online that runs 24 hours from the airport at 11 Euros, but I was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative. Does DART run directly from the airport? If not, would it make sense to take a cab to the nearest DART line and then take the DART there to Bray?

  • Am I sticking my nose where it doesn't belong?

Complicated story, but here goes... A very close friend of mine (ex-boyfriend) is now married and has 3 kids. His only daughter (age 13) has curvature of the spine. I am not certain if this is causing her pain or not, but she seems to be a very active happy young girl. The thing that concerns me is that next month, this girl is expected to go under the knife for spinal fuson surgery. She will be required to be in the hospital for at least a week and will face several months of recovery and therapy afterward. She will even have to donate some of her own blood a month before the procedure in case she needs a transfusion. I know this is not my kid, but I'm worried sick about this. I wonder if this is even necessary. I'm scared that if I say anything, I'll look like the jealous ex-girlfriend who can't move on with my life. I just don't want anything to happen to this little girl. Should I keep quiet and hope for the best, or should I say something to my ex?

  • Question about Irish interiors?

I have noticed that when traveling in Ireland, just about all the hotel rooms I have been in (as well as many restaurant interiors) are painted yellow. Is there a reason for this choice of color? Is there a meaning behind it, or is it just a popular color selection?

  • Question about Human League Video?

In the video for "Don't you Want Me" by the Human League, there is a scene where the dark haired woman is given a cup of coffee by another brunette. Am I dreaming here, or wasn't this the exact same scene as in an 80's coffee commercial? I'm thinking it was either Maxwell House or Sanka? Does anyone know if the clip in the video was a cut from the commercial?

  • Childless Marriage?

I just read an article that some people in Washington State are trying to pass an initiative that married couples must have children within 3 years of getting married or their marriages will be annulled. What do you think about that?

  • Eurail and Seat Reservations?

I will be traveling to Europe for the first time in a couple weeks. I have a four-country rail pass and will be taking the train into several different cities. According to my schedule, there are some travel segments that require seat reservations. I understand that they should be made once I am in Europe, as it is more expensive to make them while I'm in the US. My question is, how do I reserve a seat? Can any rail station make a reservation for me? Can I do it over the phone? Do they need to be made in advance of my train trip, or can I just walk up to a window (say an hour before the train leaves) and pay for it then?

Thank you for any and all advice!

  • Italy entry requirements for visitor from USA?

I am confused about the entry requirements to Italy. I will be traveling to Venice next month and will be there for 2-3 days only. Do I still need to complete an application with the local police? (see below) Or,is this just for people who plan on staying for more than 90 days? I've never heard of anyone having to do this before.

ITALY - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist or business stays up to 90 days. (**90-day period begins when entering Schengen countries). Within eight days upon arrival, visitors are required to register with local police and obtain a permit to stay, regardless of length of visit. Proof of sufficient financial support may be required. For stays longer than 90 days, employment, or study, a visa is required

  • How to dress for winter trip to Europe?

I will be flying to Europe (flying into Frankfurt, Germany) on December 6 and will be returning home to California on December 15. What is the best way to dress to keep warm and dry? (I am female by the way.) I will be taking the train into Austria, Italy, and Switzerland also. Do you recommend several layers, or just a warm coat? Also, should I expect snow in early December or just rain? Thanks in advance for any input. It will be my first trip to mainland Europe.
