How do astronomers account for the fact that astrology is a proven science?

No. It's because it doesn't work.

No. It's not. It's using the same arbitrary insistences that astrology is based upon.

Two reasons.

There is no cause an effect relationship between the positions of the planets and what people do. Astrologers claim there is a correlation, but that does not show any cause. Science needs more than just a correlation. If the correlation is statistically significant then there must be a cause that can be discovered. None has been discovered. Astrologers are not trying to discover one, so they aren't doing science.

Even more important, astrologers often say they need more than just the positions of the planets, they need to know the person. So it is just social engineering. You tell them what they want to hear or judge their character and then say what people with that character normally do. No astrologer has even been able to tell what will happen in a person's life better than any random guess could do if they are only told the person's horoscope.

Actually, astronomers do not bother to account for the "non-fact" that astrology is a proven science. That makes this easy to answer.

How much money do astrologers make these days? I cannot imagine what that could be.

Whether you like the answers science comes up with or not does not make them more or less likely. The fact is that the best answer is based on a lot of observations of lots of stars and their life cycles. To be sure, it is a theory, but we've never said anything more than that.

If you don't believe in what science says, try holding a big rock over your foot and then let go... you'll quickly recognize that scientific theories are based on solid experience and evidence.

Why don't these 'proven scientists' get on over to the James Randi Educational Foundation where there is $1 million waiting for them when they demonstrate that astrology is better than random guesswork?

Why aren't they queueing up? Because none of them has yet succeeded and they know perfectly well that none of them will.

I feel that astronomy is a wholly objective science while astrology is whiolly subjective... duh-uh... sorry, I'm not much help here. It is very difficult to equate or relate such diverse subjects.... it's like comparing apples and oranges !

No valid astronomer believes in dumb fake astrology. Astrology is to astronomy is what fake wrestling is to the real ultimate fighting.

How does it feel? I'm actually relieved to know there are people out there who are stupider than myself. But when I get over the mild euphoria of that, I find it disquieting to think that I could have perhaps been one of them, under different circumstances. It's a little sobering.
