why dont i have tension after new clutch installment?

94 suzuki dr125. just installed the new clutch plates. this isnt rocket science for its not hard to take out 5 bolts to the clutch springs, take hub cover off,and replace plates in proper order.then after plates are in,installing new release bearing and torquing clutch spring bolts to proper specs.after this i felt the clutch lever and it was better, then i went to adjust the tensioner as you should always do when installing a new clutch,by loosening the lock nut and turning the screw in til i felt resistance, then backed it out slightly an tightened the lock nut,now the clutch has no tension at all and the lever wont spring back forward.it was fine til i messed with the tensioner but it had to be done,i even seen front cover kick out an loosen the plates up wen i pulled the clutch in,but since i messed w/ the tensioner its gone.any suggestions?i know i did the installment right

Update:

no,cable is still intact an ready to go

Update 2:

oh and if yall dont mind, i read you can run straight diesel fuel into the oil chamber an it will help clean it out. is this true?

Update 3:

no1 shuda gave firestormer a thumbs down either, that was a great guess being that i didn add it in.

Update 4:

i read in one forum for gsxr's that the cover HAS to be on in order to get tension, but i had tension til i messed w/ the tensioner. 1 guy didn have tension either til he put the cover back on but i did have tension at 1 time. do you think the clutch cover has anything to do with it?

Update 5:

an i got the screw down pat, turning it in gets it closer to the push rod for more tension turning it out gets it further away from the push rod.

You may have been confused in which way to turn the adjuster.

Try it both ways (in & out).

Also when tightening the lock nut, that can turn the adjuster

just enough to throw off the adjustment.

Don't use the lock nut until you feel the clutch working properly.

mmmm.. I don't really what is called in English, but anyway, just check a piece of metal that like the nail,it helps to push the clutches inside when u pull the cable...add to that it's right about using diesel feul into oil champer.I always use it,but try not to run engine more than 2 minutes with diesel inside.
