why is my dog snorting like a pug?
i have a pitbull pup she's only about 4months old and is getting really big already, but anyway i notice when she gets excited(everytime i go near her house) she starts snorting and wheezing kinda like a pug does cause of their breathing.it kinda sounds like she's got a lung full of mucus or something. any suggestions?
she doesnt have a chain nor collar fore she's jus a pup an we live about 15 miles from civilization. her mom is on a chain tho.i hunt wild hogs. i know about the collar deal but thanks for the suggestion,i shoulda added that then you'd know. i guess ill take er in. she's doesnt seem sick a bit as she's so playful and happy.she run fine and doesnt do it but when she sees me she starts doing it.i watch her and her mom play all the time and they get rowdy but she never does this til i come into the picture

If she is on a chain, or wearing a collar, be sure to check how tight it is. She could be getting excited to see you, but then having trouble breathing because of a collar that is a little too tight. You should be able to place two fingers between the dog collar and the dog's skin for a good fit. If it is tighter than that, it could be cutting off her air. If she is on a chain, then she could be pulling against her chain to get to you and that could cause the snorting air sounds.
If these things are not wrong, you may want to take her to a vet and have her checked to see if she has a problem.

It could be a medical problem, so go to the vet if you feel she might be sick. Otherwise, it could just be what happens when she gets excited. I have a 6 year old chocolate lab that sounds like a wild boar when she's happy. She snorts and huffs and coughs, and she's always done it. That's just how she is.

Could be many things, those are sympthoms of almost every problem on the lower respiratory tract. Keep in mind that a simple pulmonary infection can become serious trouble for your pup. You should take him to a vet, if you do it fast it will be easy to solve the problem, otherwise it can become dangerous...
