There is a story of a Chinese farmer which I want to relate here for our true understanding of

    Good Luck Bad Luck!

There is a Chinese story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?" A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?"

Then, when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and enlisted every able-bodied youth they found there to fight the war for the king. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck?

    Who knows?

Everything that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything is for our spiritual purification. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good fortune and what misfortune, and thank him that all things turn out divine with those who love him.

So what I thought in the past was ill luck for me at that time, was actually good to purify my spirit soul so that I can meet the Lord without any impurities of good or bad in my mind. Because everything comes from the Lord, then how it can be anything but good for His children.

When as children we are given vaccination for our good we cry at that time because we don't know its importance then. But today as healthy grown ups we thank our parents for getting us injected.

Similarly, Lord gives us injections from time to time, but we like foolish children bawl and accuse Him for being cruel, little realizing the importance of that injection.

I hope you got the subtle point behind this beautiful story.

Life is a winding path which gives us amazing surprises. Bad lack is often just an opportunity for change and adaptation. What would REALLY be bad luck is if life never presented us with difficulties to surpass.

Only because I thought I did. If you focus on the negative then the negative is all you'll get. That's why I don't believe in karma. If you think something bad will happen, then it will. Sometimes you mess up, but it doesn't mean you're going to get bad luck from it. Just learn from it.
