Will taking the stairs at work really help?
I am trying to work more activity into my day for weight loss and I was wondering if walking up and down a flight of stairs at work every hour would be useful. Is every hour really necessary or could walking several flights at break time be useful? Would this activity actually do anything to help me lose weight? I have always heard that you need 20 minutes of aerobic activity to increase the heart rate for a significant period of time. I'm hoping it won't just be a waste of time and more frustration.

Hi,
Trying to reduce unwanted weight has not really been easy with some people due to their body composition, but with determination and following the weight loss program, you will be able to achieve your desired result. Bear in mind that its a gradual process. You cannot achieve it just immediately but doing what you are supposed to do will lead to positive result.
All you need to do is to discipline yourself. Its very important. Eat balanced diet but eat when you are hungry. Try and eat fruits, vegetables and drink more water. Also, try to reduce fatty food going into your system, reduce sugar intake, soda, chocolate, ice cream, etc.
Walking on the stair case is an exercise on its own. It will really help you shed weight. Keep doing it and over time you will see result. You can also walk out, run, dance, ride bicycle, swim if you have pool, etc.
Good luck

Find an alternative stress-reliever. When you’ve had a bad day, don’t reach for the doughnuts – look for a new coping mechanism that works for you personally, not against you. Listening on your favourite album, looking at family members pics on Facebook, or just getting out your front door for a walk will allow you to focus on the positives.

I am at Uni, and so much of my categories are at the sixth or eighth flooring, so I use the elevator (or "raise" as we are saying within the UK). Its fairly frightening although, cos the entire pupils attempt to cram in, and the raise shudders and shakes and makes bizarre noises because it struggles to manage with us all! lol I might nonetheless use it although, instead than the steps.
