It rains because it is a result of atmospheric processes that allow for the transfer of heat energy from the surface into the atmosphere. The air is cooled and once cooled enough it releases heat energy by condensing water vapor into small droplets, which can go on to form rain.

It rains when the air's invisible moisture has been cooled to the point where a cloud forms and the cloud continues to grow.

The air's invisible moisture turns into a cloud when the air is forced to rise.

Rising air cools and when the air rises high enough and cools enough...a cloud will form.

When the air continues to rise and continues to cool...tiny drops inside the cloud bump into each other which makes the drops grow larger and larger.

At some point...the drops grow so much they b/come too heavy to stay suspended by the rising air and they fall to earth as rain.
