It depends what for... I assume for gaming?

In first-person shooter games like Crysis 2, Just Cause 2, Call of Duty:MW3 and Battlefield 3 or MMORPGs like World of Warcraft or Skyrim, your computer is better.

That's because fps in first-person games is determined mostly by how fast your graphics card is, not your CPU. Overall performance is about 75% GPU and 25% CPU in games like that, and your Radeon HD 6790 is much better than his Raden HD 6750. His Core i3 CPU is better, but that doesn't affect performance nearly as much as the graphics card.

The Radeon HD 6750 is a rebadged 5750- basically the same as a GeForce GTS 450. His GPU is slower than a Radeon HD 6770 or GeForce GTX 550 Ti, yours is faster.

However, for RTS games like Starcraft 2 and Civilization 5, his computer is better. In those types of games, your fps depends mostly upon the CPU (and his Core i3 2120 easily beats your Athlon X3). RTS games don't have super intense graphics, so having a high-end graphics card isn't as important.

For games, the number of cores isn't as important as the clockspeed. A Phenom II X4 975 is better for gaming than a Phenom II X6 1090T. But no matter what, Intel's Sandy Bridge Core i5 CPUs are better than anything from AMD.

The RAM difference doesn't matter much- no games use more than 4GB of RAM, so having 8GB doesn't matter unless you're trying to run other stuff alongside the game. DDR2 vs DDR3 means very little in real-world game performance. It's maybe a 5% speed boost in his favor, which is 1-2 fps more, that's all.

    athlonx3 455 3.1 ghz.

    4gb ddr2 1033

    amd radeon hd 6790

    that is yours is better..

coz computers are rated in terms of performance and a processor is rated on terms of multitasking... AMD is always made fro multitasking... intel cannot beat this... m a end reviewer who test the products in the markets... and in the case you said that your friend has 8gb ddr3.. its not that he has beaten you.... 4gb is sufficient for any pc.... in 8gb the rest of max 3gb will be unused so you saved money as well...

even if you upgrade to newer products... dont ever go for intel always go for AMD....

It's very close. I'd say they're about equivalent; you have a slightly better graphics card, about the same processor (though yours is a little worse), and less RAM.

You have a slightly better graphics card, but your friend has a slightly better CPU.

Your triple core and GPU has the upper hand only if you upgrade your RAM to gddr3/5.
