foxtel not showing all NAB matches. Should the AFL have given channel 7 some preseason matches to air?

BQ

Have you been able to watch all your teams matches in the NAB cup this preseason on foxtel?

Firstly, I don't have Foxtel anymore....simply because I see no need for it (except during the footy season) that's when I want to have Foxtel.

Anyway....I think its totally wrong what Foxtel did last night, they are hypocrites.Basically, Foxtel in general is a huge "RIPOFF". I know, I used to install Foxtel to people's homes and the amount of feed back from customers that are not happy with the basic package (but that's another story).

Ch 7 should have showed the game on free to air preferably "LIVE".

BTW... I did watch the game "LIVE" on my PC. It was on www.aflnt.com.au happy to watch a Crows game "LIVE" when it wasn't on the tele.

Foxtel purchased the rights to each NAB game, so they can do with them as they please, and unfortunately because the times clash (and the fact their revived Fox Footy channel is the only channel on Fox showing AFL), they aren't showing games in 2 places (they have previously used the "Press Red" feature to allow people to choose which game they want to watch, but that apparently isn't happening).

It would have made sense for them to on-sell the games, but that is up to them. Some games would be hard to cover due to the fact they are in regional areas, and they only have a limited number of staff/equipment/commentators, so I'm not sure why they didn't try to sell some games off.

But the short simple answer is no, the AFL has to look after it's interests, and in the case of selling pre-match coverage, they need to generate as much revenue as possible. Try listening on the radio, I'm not sure which games they cover, but it at least gives you an option if you don't have Foxtel, or if the radio are covering a game that Foxtel aren't.

Haven't missed a Richmond game yet, pretty sure they're televised week in week out (hopefully)

Yes Foxtel should have given Channel 7 the games they weren't covering

Fox Footy had rights to the nab cup and cant show all games in all areas. They will only show games at the main venues like eithad aami patersons, aurora and so on. Its still a good deal. Every game of the season proper live . Cant wait

yeah i know it's a pain, im a crows supporter and our game was in Alice Springs, not televised, Channel seven have a pretty tight schedule and usually utilises 7 sport on a sunday however recent agreements have disallowed channel seven from televising AFL, unfortunate.

It's because of the grounds they play at. They aren't going to install all the equipment at any old country ground just for one game, it wouldn't make any economic sense. Channel 7 wouldn't make a difference, they all run on profits. If it isn't profitable, they won't do it.

    BQ No, West Coast yesterday.

No Foxtel here in the USA. I haven't seen any of the Geelong games so far. A replay will be available sooner or later. I can't see any of it. I would quit whinging if I was you.
