Wet probably. If you drop the wet fly a bit hard on the water it doesn't hurt you much. You do have a bit more difficulty in determining strikes though. You just need to get out and do it. Practice practice practice and you might as well be annoying fish while practicing.

Wet fly fishing is easier because you don't have to worry about the presentation and drag on the line. Nymph fishing with an indicator is another way to do this.

Dry fly fishing is easier to see what is going on, but requires more technical prowess. It is easier to scare off fish feeding on the surface with a bad cast. The fish on the surface are also looking for a more natural presentation - no drag on the line and lighter and longer leaders.

I have a pocket guide to fly fishing for beginners here: http://www.thefishinggeek.com/

There are no pros or cons over dry flies or wet flies. Each has their own use and only work during certain times. Dry flies are used during a hatch, when flies are emerging off the water and flying around. Wet flies work best when the hatch is dying, the flies are starting to die off they fall in the water and will start to sink.

the reason 60% of folk finally end up disliking Fly-fishing is by way of the fact they purchase airborne dirt and dust much less high priced, adverse high quality rods/reels/line. the interior your budget "kit" i could advise thinking could be interior the $a hundred and fifty-$two hundred selection. (understand- "good" Flyline starts at $40 5-$50!) are not getting me incorrect- you could desire to purchase a 9' grotesque Stik Rod, an "automatic" reel and a few Walmart/ok-mart "Blue-easy particular" line....... yet, I assume that outfit would be "gathering airborne dirt and dust" in a million month......and you would be telling absolutely everyone the way you "tried" fly-fishing and it wasn't for you. paying for a $40-$60 kit for Fly-fishing is equivalent to buying a 22 high quality rifle to earnings the thank you to seek deer- Technically, you would be able to desire to kill a deer with a superbly placed shot to the attention, yet odds are, you will finally end up having to purchase a greater useful rifle/shotgun in case you prefer to proceed looking deer. hence, I advise saving your money and procuring some thing which will artwork greater suited for you, (and provide you a greater suited representation of what Fly-fishing is approximately). wish this facilitates?
