These weren't "the same" people as you suppose. All were men but some done good while others did not.

    Matthew 7

16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

    God bless you.

I don't see the Bible condemning slavery. I don't see it supporting slavery either. But I do see that if a Christian is a slave he is to he a "Christian" slave to his master. And if a Christian owns slaves I see that he is to be a "Christian" master. However, I haven't studied this too much.

The bible is so vast and contains so many stories people can use it to support almost anything.

It is sad that they did that. They knew not what they read. Some people just do not know how to read the Bible and interpret it rightly
