Can you explain how despite the might of the British Army, the inexperienced American forces were able to win the War for Independence?     1. Americans used guerilla tactics, while the British were used to fighting in formation. 2. Americans generally had more motivation for fighting. 3. Americans were familiar with the landscape. 4. Help from the French 5. The British were fighting a war far away from home. 6. Most of the American military leaders, Washington for example, were experienced from service with the British. 7. The American army could rely on local agricultural production, while British supply was far away in England. 8. American militias provided a good basis for an army. 9. The American colonies were very populated in comparison to most colonies. 10. Americans were more acclimated to the climate than the British. 11. There was no central area of importance in the U.S. so the British could not just attack one area. 12. Only a relatively Small number of British soldiers were in the colonies at the outbreak of the war. 13. The British in general were fighting in a land that unitedly opposed them, so they were hard pressed to find help. 14. Due to small numbers the British were not able to occupy land after victories. 15. The British had far more trouble recruiting support than the Americans. 16. The Kentucky Long rifle was very accurate at a long range. 17. American snipers with long rifles. 18. Most Americans especially in the Soutb were extremely skilled hunters, which made them more accurate shots.
