Are you being baptized by immersion or sprinkled? If you're being baptized by immersion you will want to wear clothes under your baptism gown. You will want dark colored fitted clothing so nothing will show through when you get wet. Bend your knees as you're dunked so your legs don't go floating up. If you have long hair, wear it in a braided ponytail so it won't get all in your face when you're dunked. Bring a change of clothes and any makeup or hair brush, etc. you will need for afterward.

And enjoy the beautiful moment of obedience to Christ.

Just enjoy the moment. Baptism is a public acknowledgement of the decision you've already made in your heart: to entrust your eternal salvation to Jesus Christ. It's not a ritual as religious rituals go. It's a time of great celebration. So let the Lord guide you and just share your joy with all who are witness to your baptism.

If you are going to a church that dunks, take a deep breath before they put you under. And make sure you go all the way under, or they may have to re-do it (that's the way my old church did it). If you are going to a church that sprinkles, shut your eyes before the priest gets good and started. Either way, a towel and change of clothes may be a good idea.

  • Know this that there will be a party going on in heaven at your baptism!

Luke 15:10 I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Congratulations! That is so exciting! Very happy for you to be making this public declaration. Before I was baptized a wrote a letter to God...thanking Him for all he had done for me up to that point. It was a great opportunity to reflect on His power and glory. If you can, take the time to sit down and write out how you are feeling tonight. I actually read mine at my baptism...but if not it might be something special just for you and God. Again, congrats and just enjoy it! :)

I think you have to wear white. I assume you're being dunked, so get a good breath before you go under and then talk yourself into relaxing while you're under so as not to panic. Other than that, I don't know since we don't baptize that way. I'm sure the minister will help you with any questions you have. God bless and congratulations.

Just remember the repentance part. Repentance means changing your clothes before you get baptized.
