Can a FBI Agent arrest a cop?

Can an FBI Agent arrest a cop, if he sees the cop abusing his power like pepper spraying people for no reason, or peaceful protestants?

Because I hear FBI has more power than cops. (Sorry if I offend any officers)

Let me clear up some obvious misconceptions. An FBI agent has less authority than a state or municipal officer. however they have much broader jurisdiction (the US and all its territories), but they can only enforce Federal law, not state laws.

While an so-called peaceful protester might be within there rights, and FBI agent would not be able to make the determination that a local or state Police officer UNLAWFULLY deprive those person of those rights without a review of the circumstances by the US Attorneys Office. You see, FBI agents rarely (if ever) arrest people for "on view" offenses,

So, the only Federal crime which might be at issue is a civil rights violation, there is no determination of that fact by a US Attorney, the answer would be no in the real world.

I have ben a police officer for 40 years, and I have NEVER seen an FBI agent make an on-view arrest. Although, I know of many instances where agents have arrested Police officers who have been indicted by Federal Grand Juries.

Yes, an FBI agent can arrest a cop. They do it all the time after long investigations. And cops can arrest FBI agents, it happens every now an then. But FBI agents almost never make on view arrests. They only arrest after an investigation and an indictment from a Federal Grand Jury. Whereas the cops make on view arrests all the time. FBI agents don't have more power than cops, just more jurisdiction and more privileges, like always flying armed etc.

The FBI does not "outrank" regular police officers like many people think. FBI agents can operate anywhere in the country, whereas regular police can usually only work within their own county or state, but otherwise FBI agents are not "more powerful" than the police are; they simply investigate different matters.

If an FBI agent saw a police officer committing an offence, he could definitely arrest him for it. The opposite is also true- a police officer could arrest an FBI agent he saw commit an offence.

Their power is pretty equal, it's the jurisdiction(where they can use the power) that matters.

Yes, and FBI agent can arrest a cop, and visa versa. A cop can arrest a cop, an agent an agent.

It really doesn't matter who you are, technically the deputy of maybury can arrest Obama.

Yes both can arrest each other if they are doing something wrong.

But I don't think an FBI agent would really concern themselves with a pepper spray incident

If it's a federal crime, yes. Such as, if this happened in a national park, or on an Indian reservation.

It's more likely he'd try to get the cop to back off, though.

They can and they are SUPPOSED to, but the majority of law enforcement officials look out for each other, rather than take action against each other. They are all "buddies."
