Reliability is more difficult to quantify. They are more robust and less prone to damage from knocking or dropping as traditional mechanical drives but they do have the one drawback of having a limited write capability. Each cell in an SSD can only have data written to it a set number of times. although this figure is in 1000's it does mean that eventually the data on an SSD will become read only and no other data can be written. As more and more cells reach their write limits the SDD will get slower as it has to hunt for cells that are still able to have new data written to them.

For this reason we do not defrag SSD's as it decreases the lifespan and they don't really need it anyway because they store data in a different way to traditional drives
