Why do people push religion on others?

I am not the anti Christ or anything but why do people insist on pushing their certain religion upon people and making it seem like they have have no other choice, now now don't get all offensive if you already are all people do differen things differently but what I'm asking here is don't you think someone should find what they believe in for themselves? Not have it forced upon them by family, friends, or society?

People push beliefs on each other. The category hardly matters.

Everyone does this for different reasons... there is no one answer to this question.

I believe in every religion or belief - someone is trying to cram something down someone else's throat, but I also think sometimes this is misunderstood. A person can mention or introduce you to a belief or idea and its up to you to accept or refuse. I think how it is handled is what makes everything so complicated. Sometimes people just want to share with you and if you don't agree, I think its best to respectfully say so and they should respectfully understand. If someone is an unbeliever, pushing them into it isn't going to make them a believer - pray for them and go on about you way. But some people think that anytime someone mentions their beliefs or references them, they are pushing and that's not necessarily true. People's beliefs dictate their lifestyle and you can't ignore or disregard something that's part of your everyday life. I think as long as the person's beliefs don't affect or hurt you - everyone should agree to disagree. How many times have I been insulted for having faith at all?! Many times... oh well. I don't react to them by insulting them for having a lack of belief... I simply chalk it up to the game of life, pray and go on. And yes, I feel like everyone should find their own beliefs but just because someone may share or introduce an idea - doesn't mean their pushing. They're only pushing when you've communicated how you feel about it and they don't respect you.

    Bismillah,

I like your question and I will do my best to answer, God Willing.

As humans, we all have different beliefs and ideas. Also, we as humans all have different goals, ambitions, desires and motivations etc. This is why we all go in different directions and choose different paths. I cannot answer this question for others, but I can for myself. The following is the mainstream Muslim viewpoint on your question.

Firstly, it is an essential part of Islam to convey the message of the religion to others. This is not to push a person into Islam by force, but to make them aware of it and learn about it peacefully.

    Proofs from the Qur'an --

(Al-Baqarah 2:256) There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Tâghût and believes in Allâh, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah 2:256)-------->This shows there is no force.

(Al-Kahf 18:29) And say: "The truth is from your Lord." Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. (Al-Kahf 18:29)--------->This shows there is choice.

I chose to be a Muslim, and apart of my religion is to teach others about it.

Secondly, I don't believe someone should find what they believe by themselves because everybody needs help and nobody can know everything. So, it is always good to help someone find the Truth when you see they are struggling. God didn't let us wander blindly, He brought us Scripture and Messengers. So, we should also wish others find what is right and help them find it.

Finally, force is not right and choice is the best way.

Some people push it because they feel so convicted in their beliefs that they just can't understand why other people can't believe that way too, so they feel like they need to convert everyone out of compassion for others, even though that compassion comes across too strongly. Do you think any real believer of Christianity pushes their religion on others to cause anyone harm? They do it in an attempt to save their soul from hell. So these pushers mean well, but they could also be wrong from the start, so isn't pushing something that could be false just as bad as letting people's souls burn? I wish everyone would just have an open mind towards everything and just believe in love and compassion regardless of religious belief.

It is the normal thing for people to do.

Liberals push their views, conservatives push theirs.

Atheists push their views and religious people do the same.

You can't be in contact with society without having a view (or a narrative) pushed on you.

That said, there are some religious people who are very poor at putting forth their views. That is one reason I was an agnostic-atheist for a very long time. But if or when you consider a religion, be careful to separate how good or bad some people practice it from what is/are the basic doctrines and teachings.

Alot of things were pushed on me like drugs, what to wear and what not to wear, how to eat, my education, etc. In comparison, religion was not pushed hard enough. Most people including Christians don't really know much about God or the Bible because, unlike sex drugs and rock and roll (everyone is an expert on these things), nobody talks about them.

I see and hear this question all the time and sometimes think (stinken thinken), maybe Christians should start asking every where "Why do atheists push their religion on others?" If you go out and say loudly "all women are ****** hoes", some people might snare but you get an equal amount of people who agree. If you go out and clain God is real, you might want to have a bullet proof vest, and maybe a pair of earmuffs to muffle the sounds of atheists screaming at you and yelling "stop pushing your religion on me. I think what is good for the goose.... All I hear is atheist veiws how they hate Christians pushing their beliefs. For every one Christian who pushes their veiws on me there is probably 1000 atheist hating on me just because I'm not ashamed to say "I believe".

Different reasons. One is that religion is supposed to be salvation. If you truly believe you are correct, you would want others to be saved too, yes? I would (not that I push it, but seeing as I think mine is right like any other, I would like if people were to follow it). Some do it to be right - that competitive complex some people form even manifests in an area where none can be proven right or wrong. I'm sure there are many more reasons as well.

it negates their own inner doubt for some for others they know it can be a lucrative business for others they love you and wish you to know peace and hope.

Yes it's me Jesus.....back and still eating the fruits and seeds as God ordered in Genesis, from beginning to end....

and to prove I'm the real deal I explain (in all languages as promised) how I performed 2 miracles feeding the 5000 and the miraculous catch in my key video "the announcement". More will be revealed in due course over the next few months as the world wakes up slowly to the reality I am back. Of course some will say I am an imposter but the reality is no one will wonder how the miracles were performed anymore as my truth will be embedded in the minds of man and everyone will know it's the truth even if they deny me in their hearts. Spread the video (facebook-Jayzus Christo, twitter-@themessiahme, email etc) if you want to speed up the coming of a world free of oppression, violence, paedophilia etc it's going to happen. to doubt is normal but oppose or censor me at your peril. Those who muster faith and pass on the video shall be rewarded (although perhaps despised by many).

Religious freedom. If God is real wouldn't you want someone to tell you. How else would you know. If someone in your family or a friend really care about you they would want you to know.

Let me put it this way.If your friend or family member knew where to buy gas for 25 cents a gallon would you want them to tell you?

How would you feel if they didn't?

How about if a truck was about to run you over and you didn't see it coming. Would you want them to tell you or would you rather let you find out for yourself? what kind of friend or relative would do that?

I think I like your thinking. People intrude others' lives whenever it's none of their business. They had their chance with their own life. If their kids or strangers choose another path, they should be accepting, not painfully aware of it. That is how kids end up homeless as so many do these days.

    Because

“The mark of an advanced soul is one who has patience with society and shows extraordinary coping skills. They may be found in all walks of life, but are frequently in the helping professions or combating social injustice in some fashion. The advanced soul radiates composure, kindness, and understanding toward others. Not being motivated by self-interest, they may disregard their own physical needs and live in reduced circumstances.

On the other hand, the beginner or immature soul does not demonstrate a generosity of spirit toward others, nor do they take much personal responsibility for their actions. They get into disastrous ruts and feel that life has cheated them out of happiness. They have an inability to bond with people and do not feel close to anyone.

The beginner soul may live a number of lives in a state of confusion and ineffectiveness, influenced by an Earth curriculum which is different from the coherence and supportive harmony of the spirit world. Less developed souls are inclined to surrender their will to the controlling aspects of human society, with a socio-economic structure which causes a large proportion of people to be subordinate to others. The inexperienced soul tends to be stifled by a lack of independent thinking. They also lean towards being self-centered and don't easily accept others for who they are."
