Why isn't cutting calories working?
Just hoping for some more feedback possibly from someone in the fitness industry: I've used several tools to come up with a conservative estimate of the calories I burn on a daily basis, about 2300. I've been eating 1700 calories and started working out daily in addition to that. I've not seen any results. I've been truthful with counting. It seems like the math should work no matter what, but I haven't lost a pound. Any personal trainers or nutritionists who can explain why a calorie deficit wouldn't result in weight loss?
When I say burn 2300 calories, I mean throughout the day, everyday living, it takes 2300 calories to maintain my weight. If I eat 1700 calories, there's a 600 calorie deficit. If a pound of fat is roughly 1500 calories, I should be losing at least a pound a week (actually more) but it isn't happening.

The estimate you found is a ESTIMATE, it works for some and for others it does not, it does not look at varieables like the speed of your metabolism, but it is a good place to start from, every week lower the calories by 250-500 till you loose weight, once you found that point it will all be easy, who knows, you might only need to cut down by about 200 more. Just experiment, everyone is different.

Burning more calories than you consume is a big no no.
Burning about 2300 a day sounds right and you should aim to consume that much (it is better to consume 20% more than 5% less)
Because you have been eating less calories your body is breaking down muscle to get glucose and startch, this means although your muscle will decrease your overall body weight will either stay the same or increase.

Lol you cant burn 2300 calories a day.Im pretty sure you also dont know how to read nutritional labels. This is a free video on that topic:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXwLUA_ucCk
Perhaps you dont count servings so you eat 3 servings and 3x more calories you thought you were eating.
