How do you think the universe was created?

I have two theories.

1) The universe has always been here. It just undulates, meaning it goes through infinite cycles of big bangs. Essentially the universe is forever in the past and future.

2) The universe is just an expression of nothing. All the energy in the universe adds up to zilch. The big bang is just a random chance of nothing expressing itself. This actually happens all the time, even in the vacuum of space. Virtual particles are popping in and out of existence quite rapidly.

The real answer to how the universe was created is "we don't really know". We know that the universe is expanding, so it must have been smaller in the past. Go back far enough, and you get a universe hot and small enough that math and physics as we currently understand them no longer work. From the first point that math and physics "work", the Big Bang Theory explains how the universe came to be in it's current form.

We have some interesting ideas about what happened before that, but they're basically untested at this point (and given the nature of the subject, they may _never_ be testable.

Unfortunately, the answer saying "God! That evolution stuff is all crap" just shows an almost unimaginable ignorance about the subject. Not because of the mention of God (I happen to be a believer myself), but a) it shows she thinks the creation of the universe and the creation of life on earth are the same thing, and b) for someone who claims to be religious, it shows an appalling lack of knowledge about the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible does it say _how_ God created the universe. So it's an answer based on not understanding the theories about the early universe, and not understanding the Bible, either.

Before anyone starts to answer, the Big Bang isn't how the universe was CREATED. The big bang occured, but no one really knows what caused the big bang. It is like saying: "How was life created on earth?", with the answer being "evolution". Evolution occurs, but it isn't what started life, evolution describes the events of life.

There are a lot of theories as to how the universe was created. A lot of people will say how come nothing come from something but even in a vacuum with no matter in, particles are popping into and out of existence all of the time, it is happening all around us and there are experiments that show it as well!

Google the casimir effect if you want more information, but when two tiny uncharged metal plates are placed at micrometer lengths away from eachother in a vacuum. The quantum fluctuations outside the plates and around them are more than between the plates. This causes the two plates to shut instantaneously! As if by magic!

We will probably never know what caused the Big Bang, but we can try!

The universe is real.

Our best guess is that it was formed by the so-called "big bang".

And that at one time in the past it was infinitely small and infinitely hot.

No one knows what cause the expansion of the big bang.

Perhaps even that secret will be understood one day.

That does explain the fact that all distant galaxies are receding from us.

God created HimSelf out of nothingness.

If you accept that, all the rest is plausible.
