Why does my baby not like to feed in public?
It seems every time i go out, and don't bring a bottle, she doesn't want to breast feed in public. She fusses even more and ends up crying instead of feeding. Its extremely frustrating and I also hate having everyone stare at me and my crying baby. Sometimes I stop and try to walk her around or try to talk or sing to her. Those work to calm her down, but when i feed her again the same thing happens again.

I have the exact same problem with my little guy. I think it's due to both of the reasons that people mentioned. I think I tend to be a little tense and he tends to be distracted. I have better luck if I am in a private area in a public place. It may also be that your baby doesn't like the cover over her that we tend to use when we feed in public. I know mine doesn't like to have his head or face covered. I never cover him at home but prefer to do so in public. Usually I just end up calming him down by holding, singing or rocking and feed him when we get home. He will sometimes go a little longer than I'd like him to without eating but he's a big and healthy baby so it doesn't hasn't hurt him.

She may be picking up on your feelings about feeding in public. Next time try and find a spot to feed her where you are away from other people so you can relax more.

If you're feeling nervous or tense, she will pick up on it. If she doesn't fuss when you bottlefeed, I'd say that's almost certainly the reason. Try to relax and she will too.
Also try to minimise distractions, some babies don't like to miss out on anything!

How old is your baby? Around 5 months, it became very difficult for me to nurse in public because my baby was so easily distracted. He would get frustrated and keep pulling away because he was hungry but didn't want to miss anything. I have to nurse him in a quiet place.

Well maybe if she feels that you're nervous, she'll be nervous too. Because they feel what you feel. Just try to relax or just go in the car and somewhere private and do it.

she picking up on your feeling just bring a bottle that way she feels better and you can be more relax.
