What would a military personnel say over the radio to request an air-strike?
For a literature assignment I have to write a story about survival, and to impress my ex-military teacher I want to include scenes which include the military... What directions would a spotter give a sniper to shoot a lone person 400 meters away? And what are the general lines of how they would call in an laser guided air-strike?

For a laser guided air strike, you would simply advise the pilot that you were "sparkling" the target and describe the target. A light in his cockpit will tell him that the weapon has acquired the target. The pilot is then responsible for advising release of the weapon so the "sparkler" can concentrate on keeping the laser on the target. I called one in one night on a T-34 tank, the pilot called release and the laser operator got a cramp in his thumb and allowed the laser to drift off the tank's turret. The bomb landed about 5 feet from the tank and blew it off the road and down the side of a steep cliff. However, it didn't explode, so the Bomb Damage Assessment Evaluator refused to give us credit for anything but a "damaged tank". Some days you just can't win.

Proper radio procedures dictate it goes sort of like this, using fake call signs as if you were calling for an air strike, Delta niner three (them) this is Delta niner six (you), air strike, over, response Delta niner six this is delta niner three, air strike over, Delta niner three, troops in open (or armor or what ever) grid 012345, danger close.
