Does the possible Mayan end of the world (12/21/2012) worry you?
There have been about 514 leap years since Ceasar created it in 45BC. Without the extra day every 4 years, today would be July 28th, 2013.
Also the Mayan calendar didn't account for leap years...
So technically the world should have ended 7 months ago

Wrong.
This is not a calendar, it is a count of DAYS. Leap years are not relevant. Why do you imagine that the people in the 1960s who calculated that 13 baktuns or 1.872,000 days from some time in August 3114 BC came out to 21 December 2012 forgot about leap years? Or do you think the Maya used days, months and years in their long count? Neither of them did.
This is not garbage because of some error in the date, it is garbage because it is superstition and fraud
And you can post that on the Facebook page where this silly story came from.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or about 5125 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. Here is what a Mayan elder says on the subject: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howabou...
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

• The End of the World •
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Well, you may have a point here, but unfortunately mainstream media is still waiting for what our current calendar says, and we still are waiting for December 21st and please, lets wait until January 1, 2013, before we make any major conclusions about the year 2012. Even if our current calendar is off by 7 months, most people don't know this and so the doomsday believers are still waiting for the purported apocalypse that is supposedly due on December 21st.

No, there is no need to worry. The universe has existed for over 13 billion years. If I were to go tomorrow, it would not be that big of a deal. I don't believe in worrying about the end. It'll happen and I'll be ready.
Great calendar work, my friend. Debunking a myth at its source. Thank you for enlightening us.

No... the world isn't going to end because of mystical cosmic forces or an ancient prediction. The world will end when the Sun swallows the Earth. And the human species will end when we intentionally obliterate ourselves with weapons of mass destruction.

I'm more concerned about Iran and Israel. I don't think they'll wait until December 21st 2012.

No. I am more concerned about pieces of a comet which has broken apart falling to earth.
