Are free photoshoots a scam?
I won this free photoshoot from entering a contest on Facebook In London, I'm currently living in Wales but moving to England soon, still it's a long way to go. This woman called me to confirm that I won today for me and a friend, she said I had to pay a deposit in which I get back on the day. It's £30.00 each for the deposit, which sounded quite a bit cheap to be honest, a bit fishy. I asked her to tell me if there was any charges and she said it was a free photo shoot. She gave me the postcode and sending me an email of the details. I get to pick the date and day that I want and must confirm and stick to that day. Do I get the photos free or will I be pressured into buying some?
Do you think this is a scam?

The "shoot" is free meaning you are not paying for the photographer's time. You have to pay for the photos and most places charge £50-75 per picture and force you to buy a minimum of 10-20 pictures. And if you don't buy anything then they make you pay £300 for the hair and makeup artist's time
You didn't win anything - a lot of overpriced photo studios do these types of promotions. And do not pay a deposit for any reason
If you want to do a photo shoot, call around to at least 4-5 different studios in London to ask their price per shoot, price per print and minimum number or prints you have to buy. Get this IN WRITING. If they refuse to send this to you by mail or email then do not go with this studio

You could check the reputation of the company. Could be a scam, could be that 30 quid is just to make sure you turn up.

YES!! If you WIN a contest your not supossed to pay them anything.. it is definitally a scam.. When i was little my mom took me to a audition for child models for like kid cloths and such and they told my mom they wanted me to model but it was going to cost like 200 bucks.. long story short.. it was a total scam..

No, you get the experience and they get the photo plus the money.
