Woofer picking up noises, not clear music, help!?

So far for trouble shooting I've done this: Unpluged the RCA cables and I had no noise, no background noises or anything. Is my problem the RCA cables? Also which I find weird is the woofer doesn't start up unless the truck is started, so if I just turn the key so electrical stuff comes on, the amp is in power saving mode (red light) -possibly a problem?

Update:

I made sure to run the RCA separate from the power line, it sounded better but not where it should. I also made sure that there was no ground looping, and made sure the amp didn't touch any metal. I'm gonna but a better ground wire since the end loop is broken off, as well as some new RCA cables.

if the sub only makes noise when the rca is plugged in then its possible you need a new rca cable. you mmake want to check where you run the rca and make sure its not running next to power wire. also mmake sure you dont have a ground loop problem. i have my amps grounded straight back to battery negative. ran a full length of 0 gauge wire. however whenever the amp case touches mmetal i get noise or my subwoofer thummps. my amps are always touching metal for the most part i just havnt got around to fixing it.

if your running your RCA cable with the power source for the amplifier it will cause feedback in the system, power on one side of your ride and RCA cable on the other.and make sure you have a good ground no longer than 12 to 18 inch's from the amplifier.a seat bolt or self tapping sheet metal screw in some clean steel with an o ring connector, all can be picked up for penny's at the hardware store.make sure you do not hit anything with the screw, a bad RCA cable will do the same thing.
