My filly has a VERY thick coat! How do I get burrs out of her coat?!?!?

She has a million burrs in her coat and where her coat is so thick I cant get them out. How can I get them all out? I know shaving her is an option but I cant afford it so thats out of the question! Anyone know how to easily get them out?

Try a slicker brush (the kind for dogs).

Works for us when burrs are abound!

Very easy to accomplish. Just put mineral oil on her and they will slip out easily in your hands if you just carefully manipulate them. This helps remove them without tearing or breaking the coat.

K-Y or petroleum jelly, cowboy magic (or other de-tanglers) You might want ot wear work gloved if your hands are sensitive (i've been cut by them a few times)

this works for the mane & tail as well

    good luck!

She needs to be brushed everyday if it gets that bad. Use a detangler, and gloves. plan to have tired fingers and arms. Imigane how uncomfortable how uncomfortable that is for that for filly.
