Yahoo! Answers users and bad advice?
Sometimes I am discouraged by all of the bad advice and information I see given to users on this site. In particular the maintenance and repair, and do-it-yourself categories. Sometimes the information and advice can get dangerous and its easy to see that some people just make things up in their mind to tell others. Im sure this is not exclusive to these categories. I can understand that sometimes maybe you make an incorrect statement or dont think things through before answering. I can understand that. What I cant understand is the same knuckle heads throwing out blatent incorrect advice and still being able to participate in these forums. What do you think?

Oh I can relate to that and what should be implemented on here is when the answer is wrong then it should get deleted, especially if the answer could harm someone. I doubt if any of the teenagers on here even read Yahoo disclaimer, I didn't, which states they do not guarantee the accuracy of any questions/answers,

There is no guarantee that any answer you read on here will be accurate in any way. I've known many people in my life who have tried to a show me a "short-cut" that turned out to be more of an act of reckless disregard for ones own safety. And those people, more often than not, either never understood the risk or felt that they were just plain invincible.
I wouldn't lend too much weight to Y!A. You're asking a question to millions of random, anonymous people who have no obligation to give you either a correct or even a halfway logical response.

I think people know they're taking a risk when asking for advice on here. It's better to do research on the advice they get just to make sure it's reliable information.
