Is this a good deal for a Nikon D70?

There is a used Nikon and the shutter count is 4700, it comes with a new 18-55 lens, 5 batteries, charger, instruction book, and several 512 and 256 mb cards. And the price is $320

Update:

Or should I go with buying a brand new Nikon D3100 for $579.00

Remember that's a 6 year old camera. 512MB CF cards won't hold many photos, so you'll have to buy a couple 4GB cards. Ask the seller if the batteries and charger are genuine Nikon batteries. If the batteries are cheap knock-offs (they more than likely are), $250 would be a fair price.

The camera originally came with a 18-70mm lens, which was an upgraded lens over the 18-55. Someone swapped out the less expensive lens for the original kit lens, so that will drop the price some.

The value of batteries and memory cards are pretty much nil, and should not figure into the cost. They should just be considered an incentive for you to buy the camera.

B&H has a used D70s, which is the update over the original D70, without lens for $219. A 18-55mm lens is about $100 used. So the price of $320 seems fine - for someplace like B&H that has checked out the camera by a service check and a 90 day warranty. Without those things, I'd subtract $50 from the asking price, so somewhere around $250 seems fair to me.
