Ashley on a boy......?

I'm not pregnant, but I recently read Gone With the Wind, and as some of you may know, the man that Scarlett is chasing after is named Ashley. This reminded me that Ashley was originally a male name and I sort of fell in love with it, and now find it more handsome and strong sounding than pretty and feminine.

So opinions on this? Could Ashley come back as a boys name? Or do you think that too many people are stuck on the idea that it's a fully feminine name, like what's happened to Madison, and is happening to names such as Riley, Cameron, Ryan, Logan, Braeden and Hunter? I doubt I'd ever name a boy Ashley, maybe give it as a middle name, because of its popularity on a girl, but I really wish it could turn around and be seen on boys again.

Update:

@twisted: Ashley was an EXTREMELY popular girls name at the time i was born (the 90's), like Brittany or Nicole (my name)

Update 2:

I've never personally met a male Ashley haha, and yes, the one that breaks my heart the most is Cameron because i LOVE that name.

GO FOR IT! The name Ashley is ALL male to me. Just think of it as Ash, with a Lee added at the end. Now, does the name Ash sound masculine? IT DOES! And people think that the LEY sound sounds feminine when it doesn't. 'Gone With the Wind' is one of my favourite films, and it's a classic. Name your son Ashley if you'd like, it's such a handsome name on a boy. Sickens me to hear boy names on girls. I mean, are Riley, Cameron, Ryan, Logan and Hunter's ACTUALLY becoming girl names in the USA? That just screams stupidity to me.

Hmm I've never heard it as a boys name before, so I guess I have a biased opinion by saying it sounds like a girls name. How about this: Asher. It's a manlier version of Ashley and couldn't be confused for a girl easily .I agree with you, I hate those male names being used on girls, another one you didnt mention is Dylan. And who knows? Maybe the next big thing will not be naming girls boy names but boys girl names! But, I have to admit, Hunter is really pretty on a girl :)
