Why are Christians so irrational?

Faith is the ability of believing in something heedless of evidence; it subordinates reason and rationale to ideals and emotions - it is a virtue in times of desperation, in which all reason would condemn us to despair, and a vice in other times, in which the most despicable creeds are held above our ability to reason.

If a Christians wants to believe the Bible, that's their choice. Just leave it be.

Christ is not going to ask you to kill your child or anyone else...He created laws and breaking these lawas is a sinful act...And God is without sin...he is perfect and allknowing....

I don't know about the Giants thing but just because a christian said it doesn't mean that they are right...Christians are not better than nonChristians....We are hypocrites and liars too....The only difference is that We love Christ who took the punishment for our sins...while non christians must pay their own price because they didn't accept God's free gift...

yes, christians are very irrational and usually hypocrites. not all, but the majority definitely is. I think this is some special breed of humans, those who believe that Bible has to be taken literally and seriously. they can be lead into believing anything.

Perhaps she has a source of information of which you are ignorant. If she seems irrational to you, maybe she has some additional factors in her calculations.

Brainwashing. It's like trying to explain to a 5 year old kid that Father Christmas might actually just be their dad dressed up. If they don't want to believe it they won't. You can't force people to be rational.

just because she's a christian, it doesn't mean she's irrational. yes, I might not understand her reasoning, but that doesn't make her less thinking. Maybe she has read it or somebody told it, and she believed because of her faith.. or say she's just over-taking her love to God, then leave her. you have no hold of whatever she wants to believe in. If it just pisses you off, then don't argue with her. leave her to what she wants and what she believes.
