After removing programmes (usually games I am sometimes left with desk top shortcut icons that will not delete?

I get a message saying that "this is no longer located in C:\Users\Public Desktop. Verify the items location and try again". Trouble is I can't find the location. Any tips on how to remove please?

Try typing the name of the file/game in to the search bar and if its still on your computer it should show up on there, or you could try restarting your computer as sometimes it has to restart for the changes to happen. Hope this helps.

You want to try some sort of registry cleaner software, search google for forums discussing this and take your pick, some are good some are free, a very few are both.
